2012 Audi R8 GT Spyder
Audi recently announced pricing on the new limited edition R8 GT Spyder. For those of you who have to work for a living hold on to your jaws, Audi’s MSRP for this hand-made beauty is a cool $210,000 (not including destination and delivery taxes). That’s a lot of Benjamins, but you get a heap of bragging rights for your money. Firstly, if you’re able to secure one of these pricey convertibles, yours will be one of only 333 made worldwide. Only fifty of those are slated for the U.S. Each car will have its vehicle number on the gear shift.
Secondly, you will be driving a convertible that tops out at 197mph. The R8 GT Sypder pushes the 200mph mark with the help of a 560hp 5.2 liter direct injection V10 and a six-speed gearbox. The R8 GT Spyder ain’t to shabby 0-60mph, either, pulling that off in 3.8 seconds. Okay, that’s way far from shabby, that’s flat out bad ass.
Other notable items on the R8 GT Spyder are the incorporation of weight reducing materials like carbon fiber components in the body and ultra light magnesium for the engine frame, the fact that this car is all-wheel drive (Audi quattro, all the way), and the standard 19-inch wheels set the car off nicely, as well.
