When I heard that Buick was going to reveal a rear-wheel drive coupe at 2016 NAIAS, I have to admit that I was kind of excited. Visions of a retro Grand National danced in my head. Was the General actually contemplating adding some more traditional American muscle to the line up? If so, would they go sixties retro or flip the script and do an eighties retro?

Nope, none of the above. As a matter of fact, somebody at Buick thinks that a car that looks a lot like what is already on the road today is a “concept” of future design. Ladies and gentleman Buick presents the gasoline-powered, 2012 Tesla Model S coupe! Complete with aroma therapy! I’m not even going to bother going into the power plant or anything else. People love the Camaro, the Mustang and the Challenger. This is a no-brainer guys? GM need to stop trying to peddle Buick to the euro-yuppie market! It didn’t work with the Reatta (remember that car?) and it ain’t gonna work now. But a Buick muscle car, wait, why am I even having to say any of this? Is it not as plain as the Tesla-looking nose on the Avista?
