2017 Porsche 911 R, Normally Aspirated Like God Intended
500 Naturally Aspirated Horsepower + Six-Speed Manual, Like God Intended
Porsche debuted the new, limited edition 911 R at Geneva 2016 and man is she beautiful! Limited to 991 units worldwide, the Porsche 911 R is the lightest available version of the 911 with a curb weight of just 3,021 pounds. Powered by a naturally aspirated flat six cylinder that produces 500 horsepower, Porsche did the right thing and mated the 911 R exclusively with a six-speed manual. This, ladies and gentlemen, is a driver’s car.
Developed by Porsche’s motorsport department, the 911 R is the third model to use Porsche’s latest generation of high performance naturally aspirated flat-six engines along with the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS. Powering the 911 R is the four-liter flat-six used in the 911 GT3 RS. The race-bred powertrain delivers 500 hp at 8,250 rpm and generates 338 lb.-ft. of torque at 6,250 rpm. The 911 R makes 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top track speed of 200 miles per hour.
