2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS
Chevrolet recently announced that the new Sonic RS slated for the 2013 model year will debut next month at the North American International Auto Show next month in Detroit. The RS will only be available in the five-door hatchback and will sport more aggressive body appointments like a new front fascia with integrated fog lamps and a rear spoiler. Also standard will be Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system which allows navigation directions to be downloaded from a smartphone and displayed through the radio’s seven-inch display, as well as Pandora and Stitcher internet radio connectivity.
But the real kicker is going to be the turbo-charged, Ecotec 1.4L engine. While putting out the same 138hp of its normally aspirated 1.8L bretheren, the turbo pulls with an extra 23 lb-ft of torque to give it a little extra giddy up at 148 lb-ft versus 125 lb-ft for the 1.8L. Chevrolet says the list of additional standard appointments on the RS will be a six-speed automatic or manual transmission, 17-inch wheels, lower and stiffer performance-tuned suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock. Oh, and of course, RS badging inside and and out.
