Nissan DeltaWing Experimental Race Car

Nissan tested it’s experimental DeltaWing race car recently at the Sebring Racetrack.  Painted in black, the car conjures up images of the now retired SR-71 Blackbird, the most notorious delta wing aircraft, made by Lockheed and used by the U.S. military during the Cold War for stealth reconnaissance missions and capable of super-sonic speeds.  Nissan doesn’t make any claims of going that fast, however the technology is being employed with an eye toward lighter weight and better fuel economy which will result in fewer pit stops and more time on the track.  It will be interesting to see if this kind of shape ever makes it into a showroom.  The experimental race car is slated to run at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.

I'm one of those guys that "talks about cars too much", the history, design and engineering, I can go on forever. I finally decided blogging might be a better outlet for my obsession than dinner dates. I enjoy learning, sharing and, of course, driving!
