Shelby GTS
“Shelby”, the name is synonymous with the fastest and baddest examples of American muscle in automotive history. Their latest offering, the Shelby GTS Ford Mustang, keeps in line with that tradition while trying to be more affordable in an apparent effort to target younger car buyers. External appointments like the aggressive front fascia, bold racing stripes and hood scoop speak to traditional muscle car heritage without overdoing it. But what you can get under the hood is what will be making the most buzz around these cars, a 475hp V6.
That’s a huge leap from the V6 LX Mustangs of my youth, which I believe were available from the dealer with white wall tires, a pocket protector and 60 months of lonely Saturday nights. Shelby squeezes all of those ponies from the Ford 3.7 liter V6 with the help of a ProCharger supercharger. That option will set you back an extra $9,195.00. But even if you can’t pony up the extra $$ for the ProCharger, the untouched stock V6 will still live up to the aggressive looks of the GTS, pushing 305hp from the factory.
The GTS also comes in a V8 flavor, which according to Autoblog, actually offers more bang for the buck as opposed to the supercharged V6. But a V6 pushing 475hp? Those are some special bragging rights.
